I decided to ready “Identity as an Analytic Lens for Research in Education." in this article Identity is view as a sketch and not as a traditional view of "race, class, and gender." It's view as a sketch with the following descriptions. The author also uses prototypical examples to give a better understanding of Identity to the reader. Number one; Nature –identity: a state (an identical twin). Secondly, Institution-Identity: a position (a professor). Thirdly; Discourse-Identity: an individual trait (a charismatic person). Last, Affinity-Identity: Experiences (being a "Trekkie").
ReplyDeleteThis is interesting, Elizabeth. I'm curious about what the authors mean by "sketch." It sounds similar to Alasdair MacIntyr's "narrative ethic" or Walter Fisher's "narrative paradigm." I'd love a broader definition of the term. Do you plan on turning this initial reading into a Summary/Response?
